Blast from the Ancient Past ...

So I have been in recent contact from an old friend of my distant past. Amber Bilak and I met in 1983'ish in grade school and remained friends through high school graduation in 1995. I was always the "bad" kid in the relationship ... and probably her parents least favorite friend. Oh Well. Anyway, it's all good memories now.
This pic is Me and Amber on Halloween, clearly, in about 1984 0r 1985. Don't let the difference in height fool you, she is older than me.

Once Upon a Saturday ...

Mom took me to Build a Bear Workshop to hang out with my Aunt Erika and cousins, Chase and Shilo. Shilo had a gift certificate that she wanted to use and Me and Mom merited an invitation to participate in the fun. I was so excited.

As soon as we arrived, I realized I needed some stuff from this store. So I asked Mom if I could pick out a few things.

She said NO

But I had a plan B.

When she wasn't looking I was swiping things off the shelf, like a Build a Bear cell phone, I-pod and my favorite, a Build a Bear football. I put that football right in my mouth and shocked it with slobber to the core. Mom was forced to buy it.
The Baby prevailed. HA.

I am a Mouse, Trying to be a Rat ...

That I am ... Monday through Thursday I play the Mouse, happily mind you. Obeying orders and so forth.
Late Thursday until late Sunday I transform to the rat ... learning, absorbing, gnawing at all and any info I can.
I, however, will be the rat for some days to come ... and a mouse for now I will settle.

In My Opinion ... We Won the Lottery

January 20, 2009 Barack Obama is inaugurated into the presidency of the Unites State of America ... my home sweet home.

Writing this entry gives my chills, partly for the encouraging and unwritten times ahead and partly for the symbolic evidence that Man can change and grow. I see the inauguration of liberal Democrat Barack Obama as positive, remarkable and historic.

Sixty years ago, black people used different doors and entries, sat at the back of a public bus and so on ... and today, a mere 60 some years later we inaugurate the first African American President into office. Whoo-Hoo ... come on, say it with Me, Whoo-Hoo.

Change, in our life time, it's priceless to witness.

An Ode to Love ...

We had a little four year old admitted last night on my shift. After we got him all settled, his Mom came to his side with some chicken strips with ketchup for the ravish hungry toddler. The boy looked at his meal with approval and instinctively looked up at his Mom ans said,"Thanks Mom ... I love you more than ketchup."
Now that is what I call a strong bond.

Snow Shoeing

After two phone calls asking if Aston and I wanted to accompany her snowshoeing in Millcreek Canyon and two polite declinations, my relentless mother made a third and successful attempt at enticing us into the afternoon outing. In a nut shell, she called and said she would pay. We accepted.
It was a lot of fun and the weather was agreeable. We have gone up twice now and are in the market for an infant sleigh so that Chandler Man can come along too. We have seen all kinds of infant transporting devices that can be used in snow, but I think we are leaning towards the sled.

Catch Up ...

I was fortunate enough to land an invite to the McCarty family Mexico trip a few weeks ago. I went with Cherie and Rick, Aston's parents, and Megan and Court, Aston's siblings. The family thought it would be a good way to get to know me better being that I am shacking up with their son and all. We went to an all inclusive resort in Cancun. First, thing when we arrived, we hit the beach to absorb some vitamin D ...

Me and Megan went jet skiing in the ocean. It was one of my favorite activities. The waves made it so the jet ski flied through the air and we just hung on like stow aways.

We snorkeled. I spied a baby turtle, a spotted eal, and schools of Nemo's and other tropical fish. It was more fun than I thought it would be, not to mention how attractive I look.

We wanted to see the Mayan pyramids but it was 3 hours away, so we did what any tourist would do and booked the trip on a tour bus filled with Corona's and snacks ... to help kill the 3 hour commute of course.

I need to sort through hundredes of photos, so I will post part II to the vacation in a few days. Stand by ...
